I had the pleasure last week of announcing a total of 7,700 new jobs for Michigan, which include the creation of more than 800 jobs by the Dow Chemical Company of Midland and Petrochemical Industries Company (PIC) of Kuwait; and more than 6,900 new jobs by 18 Michigan Economic Growth Authority (MEGA) projects that will generate more than $231 million in new investment in Michigan.

The economy and creating jobs continue to be my top priority. In January, when I delivered my State of the State address, I asked the Legislature to take swift action on a series of measures that could promote economic growth and create the jobs we need in Michigan.

I was in Washington, DC last week and met with officials at the U.S. Department of Defense where I talked about how Michigan businesses can help the federal government find defense solutions that leverage technology and create jobs for Michigan citizens.
